What is PAT Testing? ~ A Pat Test (Portable Appliance Testing) is a routine inspection of select electrical appliances to ensure they are safe for use. This ultimately prevents electrical accidents in the workplace. PAT testing is not a legal requirement, however, Government legislation states that businesses are obligated to maintain electrical equipment in a safe condition.
PAT Testing involves:
A PAT testing involves full visual inspections, followed by more in depth tests carried out by using specialised testing equipment. A Typical PAT test includes, lead polarity,earth continuity and insulation resistance checks.
Upon completion of every PAT Test, every appliance should be labelled with a “PASS” Or “FAIL” sticker and a record kept on file. Obviously, any appliance that fails, should be repaired and tested again, or replaced. New appliances do not need to be tested but it is good practice to give a visual inspection for any defects or damages.
Computer Services Associates are fully qualified to carry out PAT testing within the workplace. All tests are carried out by using specially designed equipment . Upon Completion we submit a full report and any recommendations that may be necessary.
